Installing AMS Universal Engine on the POS Terminal

Advanced Store uses NCR Voyix Universal Engine (UE) as its promotion engine. For information about which versions are certified, refer to the AS Release Notes. The correct version to install (32- or 64-bit) is based on the operating system currently in use.

The NCR Voyix Universal Engine installation requires certain details to be provided during installation. Go ahead and collect information about the following AMS components prior to installing:

  • Promotion Broker
  • Customer Broker
  • Coupon Service
  • UE Enterprise Server

The NCR Voyix Universal Engine 7.x installation requires details about the following additional AMS components:

  • Administrator Username and Password, if applicable
  • Encryption Password
  • NEP Application Value
  • NEP Organization Value
  • NEP Shared Key
  • NEP Secret Key
  • Technical user
    Note

This new technical user is created when installing the AMS Security server.

Before installing the NCR Voyix Universal Engine, ensure that the preceding AMS components have already been installed.

Prerequisites

The NCR Voyix Universal Engine installer includes software prerequisites for the Universal Engine IO Server. Make sure to install all required prerequisites according to AMS documentation.

Note

If a version of OpenSSL later than 1.0.2h is installed on the system, uninstall this version before installing Universal Engine.

In addition, NCR Voyix Universal Engine 7.x requires the system time to be consistent with the Windows time zone setting on the following machines:

  • Integration Layer (SAIL) Server, which is typically the Web (API) Server
  • AMS Servers
  • POS In-Store Server
  • POS Terminals

The system time on the POS machines do not necessarily need to be the same as the system time on the Enterprise servers. However the time zone and system time on a single machine must match.

Caution

Setting the time incorrectly will result in authentication failure.
