Understanding Advanced Store Terminal Modes
The AS POS application operates using six terminal modes.
The default terminal mode is not displayed as an option. For more information on terminal modes, refer to Terminal Modes.
Department Mode
This is the default terminal mode of the POS after it is completely installed. This mode enables associates to perform sales functions. In this mode, the Sign On screen displays at the end of each sales transaction.
Cashier Mode
This mode permits associates to perform sales functions. In this mode, the Sale Main Menu screen displays at the end of each sales transaction.
Service Desk Mode
This mode permits associates to perform transactions other than selling merchandise. In this mode, the Transaction Types screen displays after every transaction.
Back Office Mode
This terminal mode is used to access back office functions only. When the POS is in Back Office Mode, the associate cannot perform any merchandise-related transaction. The terminal must be closed in order to prevent any loan or pickup transaction and to settle the data on the terminal. Some authorized (Administrator) functions are also prohibited in this mode.
Training Mode
This mode is used to train new associates. In this mode, associates can perform sales transactions and other functions of the POS application without affecting the sales and report database.
