Understanding POS Authorization Overrides
In the Enterprise Options Management (EOM) application, the Authorization Overrides parameter group contains the list of parameters required to configure authorization overrides.
POS Authorization Overrides parameter group
The Authorization Overrides group contains the following parameters.
Parameter name | Description |
---|---|
Authorization Functions | Refers to the internal name of a POS function. |
Authorization Roles |
Refers to the user role or the security level of the associate authorized to perform the function. By default, the POS application authorizes the following user roles (manager-level) to perform restricted functions: 10, 20, and 70. If the Authorization Roles field is left blank, all associates can access the POS function. |
Block All Roles |
Restricts all users from using the POS function. By default, the POS application only restricts users based on the Authorization Roles. |
One authorization override per transaction
Retailers can configure the POS application to require only one authorization override per transaction. This option reduces the number of times the application requires authorized associates to enter their credentials per transaction. To enable the feature, refer to Authorization.
When enabled, the application displays the Authorization Required screen only once during a transaction. The authorized associate’s credentials grant the currently signed on cashier with access to POS functions that normally require authorization. The cashier is then able to complete the transaction without having an authorized associate enter credentials again.
The access given to the cashier is removed after completing the transaction. The application displays the Authorization Required screen again when a new transaction requires authorization.
The one authorization override per transaction feature does not apply when unlocking POS terminals.
